Pt III

So long, Persephone had stayed
In the dark, where the king laid
Distant, distraught, oppressed with the emotions
Leading her to bed

How sad he was to see her
So sad, so stricken mad
He tried so hard
Just for her to love him
Oh how he wished for it to be true

Innocence and beauty
Peace and love
The Goddess was pure
So pure he was not

But still he felt for her
Just as he hoped she'd
Someday felt for him
Someday, she would

And though it took so long
She soon fell for the man
Who wished to only call her his own
And soon the bright spark
Started to return

And eventually, one day
Deep in the shadows of the kingdom grey
He spoke to her
Wishing for her to come with him
On a journey to a distant land
Hidden in the depths of their foreign kingdom
A land just for her
Hoping that's just what she needed

And immediately she complied
Excited to leave the castle
Excited to see something new
Even if it's still in the world
She's forced to stay in

And the journey they went
Escaping from the murder, death and sleep
Escaping from the flames and crimson
To a place she'd soon become

Immediately once they landed
She gasped in recognition
At the deep forest in front of her
This was where they met
Where their gaze was kept
For those brief, mere seconds

And though it was different
As it seemed to be in the middle of winter
Full of snow
But beautiful all its own
It still was so familiar

"I love it," her voice murmured
Gazing through it all
When suddenly she took a step forward
A smile on her face
She glanced at the king
And started off in a sprint

Shocked at first
Hades chased after her
And anxiously stopped
When he lost sign of his wife

Suddenly he gasped
When an ice cold frost met his flesh
He turned his head
To see a giggling girl
The happiness radiating off her
As if she was just a little fool

Raising his brow
He was curious at her actions
But then he smirked
And bended down to the snow
Rolling the white into a sphere

"Persephone," he spoke, his voice in a teasing tone
"I have a gift for you,"
At once she looked up from her laughter
Though her hand still covered her mouth

But when she saw the sphere
Resting in the palm of his hand
Her eyes widened in fear
Wondering if he would dare

Shaking her head, laughter still in her voice
She backed away, whispering no
"Don't you dare!" she demanded
A playful smile caressing her lips
The childish innocence full in effect

The girl squealed in shock
When the white of snow hit her shoulder
"Hades!" she exclaimed, as if scolding
Though her laughter spoke of another game
As she turned and ran off through the trees
Just as she did before

"Oh, not again," he had murmured
The child-like innocence radiating to him
As he dashed off towards the girl
And caught her, holding her by the waist

Ignoring her joking plea to let her go
He walked forward in the snow
Turning her around, she leaned against a tree
And for once, as they stared into each other's eyes
Their lips met, as willing as can be

And parting away, he whispered as clear as day
"I love you," he spoke
Hoping for the words to be returned
And after a second
That seemed like hours
Persephone finally replied
And the words, "I love you too,"
Finally met her eyes
